Before I start telling you about this venue I have to tell you that I have known about this venue for quite sometime but without out actually knowing it. I attended The Art Institute of Houston while it was still occupying its old building which was ironically located right in front on the Courtyard on St. James. Unfortunately I never had a chance to actually see this venue before now. After I have told you about this venue and if you decide to book you must see either Ashley Berg or Kyle, both fabulous women and coordinators.
The Courtyard on St. James is absolutely wonderful, small and quaint, covered in vines, and beautiful landscaping, it has all the country club appeal without actually being a country club. From the moment we walked in to the Courtyard we were greeted by several people with nothing but kindness. One of the most wonderful things about this venue is that they specialize in food, so you don’t have to worry about anything going wrong. Allergies are not a problem, they can accommodate any allergy, nuts, shellfish, gluten, anything you can think they make sure its taken care of. Since this particular venue is smaller it works well for ceremonies that are less than 250 guests, but it can house enough people during a reception. There truly are a number of different ways you can go the day of to accommodate all of your guests.
When arriving at the Courtyard you enter through the restaurant, which is the middle floor, where you are immediately greeted and offered something to drink and several albums to browse while you await your meeting with the coördinator. Since you are here you must stay and have lunch or dinner, the food is amazing! My mother and sister both have celiac disease and the kitchen prepared the most delicious lunch for each of them. The staff was absolutely wonderful, when they explained they could have gluten and there could be no cross contamination the staff members were extremely understanding, they were not rude, they did not get an attitude, there was no rolling of the eyes, they just politely said “yes ma’am that is not a problem at all”.
This place is wonderful, and they always have the brides in mind. No need to worry about parking, everything is done by valie because they need to double park the garage. They work with HPD and if it makes you feel more at ease to have an officer on duty or nearby then that can be arranged. For those of you that want to get married in a church and don’t mind doing it in the breath-taking cathedral there is one located not far in downtown Houston called the Annunciation Catholic Church. This venue will take care of you and be with you almost ever step of the way!
Unfortunately this venue will be closing soon, so head here to eat a wonderful meal, or book your event right away for this year only!
